Full Onederland first birthday setup with a child, all three handmade wooden ONE letter blocks, birthday bunting and a decorated cake at Bellevie.

One little birthday. A whole year of becoming you.

That first birthday holds so much: a year of new expressions, small discoveries and a family growing together. Bellevie’s Onederland scene gives Toronto families a playful way to celebrate it, with handmade wooden ONE blocks, a clean backdrop and the option of a cake smash.

Looking for first birthday photography or cake smash photos in Toronto? Our studio is conveniently located near Highway 7 and Leslie Street, close to Highway 404, in Richmond Hill. Explore the portraits below, then view our current Baby packages to plan your child’s celebration.

Onederland: original design, handmade details

The wooden letter blocks in this scene were originally designed and handmade by our Bellevie team. Their warm wood grain and oversized white letters spell ONE, creating a playful focal point that feels made for a first birthday.

Against the light background, the blocks bring shape and character without overwhelming the portrait. Birthday bunting adds a celebratory touch, while the simple palette leaves room for your child’s expressions, outfit and little gestures to tell the story.

There is more than one way to photograph the arrangement. The letters can form a horizontal ONE or a stacked composition, giving the scene a different rhythm across the gallery. The result is a coordinated birthday series with room for variety, rather than the same frame repeated.

From birthday portraits to cake-smash moments

The featured photographs show two sides of Onederland: portraits with the wooden blocks and birthday bunting, and photographs where a cake becomes part of the celebration. A closer frame can catch a curious expression; a wider portrait records the whole setting and the small details you chose for this milestone.

If you would like a real cake smash, discuss the arrangements with us before your appointment. Every child approaches a cake differently: some reach straight in, others take their time. Smiles, curiosity and a little hesitation can all be part of remembering this age. We do not need every child to react in the same way.

Real cake or our display cake prop?

You can ask to use Bellevie’s fake cake prop free of charge. It offers a birthday-cake look for portraits without an edible cake smash. If you prefer a real cake, please confirm cake arrangements, suitability and anything we need to know about allergies before the session; do not assume a real cake is included in your package.

Is there a cake-smash cleaning fee?

There is no cleaning fee when you handle the cake-smash cleanup yourself. If our team needs to do the cleanup, a $50 cleaning fee applies. Using our fake cake prop is free. Discuss the cleanup arrangements before your session so you know what to expect.

A first birthday worth remembering, without the pressure

A first birthday is a chance to remember who your child is at this moment, not just record a number on a cake. The way they explore something new, pause to look at you or break into a familiar smile can become the photographs you return to long after the party.

At Bellevie, we hope to accompany families as they grow. A birthday portrait can become part of that story year after year, giving you a way to see the changes—and remember the little things that were so easy to miss at the time.

Planning your Onederland birthday session

Tell us that you would like Onederland when enquiring. Share your preferred outfit colours, whether you want a real cake smash or our fake cake prop, and whether you would like family photographs as well. Confirm the scene and package details ahead of the photography date so we can prepare.

Bring a change of clothes and your usual changing and comfort essentials if you are planning a real cake smash. Ask our team about preparation and cleanup arrangements before your visit.

Questions about baby birthday photography

Is Onederland designed for a first birthday?

Yes. Its handmade ONE blocks make this scene especially suited to a one-year birthday portrait and first cake smash. Our Baby photography service covers around 100 days to two years old. If you are planning a second birthday, contact us about an age-appropriate scene and styling; the ONE arrangement shown here is specifically first-birthday themed.

Can we book portraits without a real cake smash?

Yes. You can focus on birthday portraits and ask to use our complimentary fake cake prop. It gives the photographs a celebratory detail without an edible cake.

Can other family members join?

Ask about a package or family add-on that suits the combinations you would like. Babies, children, adults and pets each count as members; confirm the included allowance and any additional-member terms for the selected package.

What photographs will we receive?

Our Baby service starts with finished edited photographs. Editing includes cropping and adjustments to colour, contrast and sharpness. Retouching adds skin enhancement and subtle fine-tuning according to your preferences; both edited and retouched photographs are finished products. Check your chosen package for image quantities and retouching inclusions. RAW files are not provided.

Will you share our child’s photographs?

Only with your permission. Otherwise, your photographs remain private and are used only as needed for our normal photography-service workflow.
